Default Bad throw out bearing?

well here is the deal. i have recently heard a light noise when i start my car sort of like a squealing and seems to get a bit louder when i press the clutch in. well i tightened up on the clutch cable liek half a turn and it seemed to go away.

well my wife was driving home today and it was grinding (syncro's are fine, goes into gear w/o any problems so i don't think it's that). it made the noise everytime she pressed the clutch in. grinding whenever it was pressed.

could it be the t/o bearing or could it be somethign else?

yep, sounds like the throwout bearing if it happens when you press in the clutch.

trinity's car makes that awful noise everytime you push in the clutch. hopefully we'll get that fixed this winter.

ok mine makes it when my clutch is engaging(WHEN DOWNSHIFTING). and accelerating in 1st gear and it stops in the middle of 2nd then in 3rd,4th 5th... no sound . when I'm idling it makes this swooping sliding sound.. then when i press clutch in it stops til i let go and it makes a ::tuck:: sound. Tranny goes into all gears great but it just feels a bit rough when shifting especially powershifting it feels like the tranny is going to fall apart or something.

what might be my problem.. the clutch doesnt slip and it grabs really hard in all gears?...

oh and another Q does a 90 CRX Si have a speed governor or rev limiter, because my fricken tranny revs to 7500 and i dont go passed that to see how high i can go. and in 5th gears i turn 6k. when 7k rpm and shifting to 3rd real fast my gear crunches in??

ok your post was hard to understand, but...

if the noise goes away when you engage the clutch, the mainshaft bearing is bad in your tranny.

damn you i wanted to get that one too. yeah its the mainshaft bearing and FIX IT RIGHT AWAY. if not it turns into a horrbile disaster. it isn't like a throwout bearing that you can kinda wait on. trust me i destroyed a tranny

Easy one to remember:
->If the noise is only when the clutch pedal is depressed, give it a Prozac and replace the throwout bearing.
->If the noise is when your foot is off the pedal replace the mainshaft bearing.

hey idiot if your refering to me not knowing how to shift or that the clutch is real good thats not what i meant... I mean in all gears either racing or daily driving the cltuch is harsh in both conditions like i have a 6 puck clutch. get me now? so its probably my throw out and my main shaft bearings hahaha can anyone say new tranny!

If the noise occurs only when the clutch pedal is up replace the mainshaft bearing.
