Default 94 del sol so brakes

Just purchased a 94 del sol si
It's got 4 wheel disc brakes
Now the pedal doesn't feel "spongy" like it would if it had air in the lines. I can visibly see the brake pads around halfway worn.
The car just doesn't have much stopping power.
You have to press the pedal pretty hard to stop quickly.

Are you saying there is more pedal travel than usual but the pedal is firm?

Pedal travel is normal but brakes don't stop well, have to push harder than normal, but doesn't feel spongy

If you have to press too hard and the brakes don't engage hard, that usully means the booster isn't working well. That can be caused by low vacuum in the system, a hose pinched or a check valve plugged, or a leak in the booster. If the booster is bleeding vacuum you can usually hear it - run the engine and listen under the dash for a hissing noise, or if you have a vauum gauge and pump you can test it at the connection on the booster in the engine compartment.

Did you clean the brakes with brake cleaner? What pads are on there? New or old rotors?

When you pump the brakes, does your idle speed change?
