Default 1999 CR-V, Key at Bottom of the lake

*edit: After posting I did a search. Going to try a local locksmith and hopefully wont have to drive an hour to the nearest Dealer.*

I had a great time with the jet ski today, but when I went to my CRV, I realized that the key fell out of my pocket in the lake. I thought I had a spare, but can't find it. Wife came and got me and the boat trailer home with her Element. CRV is staying at the lake tonight.

Any idea how I get a new ignition key? At least it's not an immobilizer on the 99s.

The dealer is always the easiest choice. Supply a VIN # and proof you own it, and they can cut one for like $12

The locksmith is $85, the dealer is a 1hr drive each way and $5.50 for the key. My wife is driving to get the key at the dealer. Somehow I think this is going to end up being the expensive option.

A locksmith can take care of it, if they're skilled enough to make a dup key without a spare key. I've seen locksmiths able to do that.

back in my repo days we would just go to the dealer and get a key cut..
much easier than trying to get the ex owner to hand over his/her keys..

the keys with the chip wouldn't start but would unlock the column so we could at least tow it..

I miss the repo days!!
