Car Won't Shift and won't go pass 40mph/3000rpm
I drive a 1999 Honda Civic LX d16y7 it's an automatic with about 200 thousand miles on it. Couple days ago my car was was running low on oil/coolant so I pour some fully synthetic oil into the car and some different type of coolant. My car now have mix oil and coolant. I started up my car and it sound fine, then after driving 10-15 miles it starts making noises. It will drive up to 40 and won't even go pass it and stuck at around 3000 rpm. I thought it was from the motor but my buddy said it was from the tranny. So I did a fluid change on my tranny and my car still feels the same. Also it doesn't throw any codes. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. any ideas? I was gonna get a new tranny but I wanna make sure it's the first before I get it.
We want to be sure your check engine light actually works before we assume there is an issue that the computer isn't detecting.
before you start your engine, right after putting the key to the second click, before the third and starting it, does the check engine light turn on?

yes it turns on.. And I actually test it by taking off my o2 sensor. It comes on and when I put my o2 sensor back in and reset my battery then the cel went off.
He stated he put fully synthetic in and "different" coolant. He could mean he has mixed coolant and mixed oil. He didn't say he has oil mixed in his coolant. That might be what he meant, however it's just an assumption at this point.

You said it doesn't shift. If you're going 40 mph it must shift, what gear does it not shift in to? When the car is not running are you able to move the car into and out of gear? Does it get stuck in to gear and won't come out, or won't go in to a gear? When you filled your transmission after doing a flush, was the car level? Not to insult your intelligence, but a common mistake when doing a transmission fluid fill.
