Default Oil pressure at vtec solenoid?

So I have a 95 accord ex with f22b1 engine and the camshaft broke behind the cam gear. No damage to valves or pistons so replaced head with rebuilt from auto zone and after running for less than an hour it starts knocking. Has good oil pressure to oil pressure sensor. 80psi startup 30+psi warm. Has 0psi to vtec solenoid. I plan to send head back but thought id see if anyone has any ideas first. The "new" head was in pretty rough shape anyway the plug tubes were dented and the valve adjusters were all seized even though they were "new" and the inside was painted and the paint flaked off. So I thought it may have clogged the head oil ports. I cant find if the vtec pressure sensor has oil pressure all the time or if it only has pressure during vtec operation. It appears to be before the solenoid so I assume it should have pressure all the time. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what this has to do with EMS's or Tuning cars but the at the VTEC port the gauge will read 0psi with VTEC deactivated. There is no oil pressure after the solenoid otherwise VTEC would engage at idle or part throttle.

Did you drop the pan and see if there were any bits and pieces after the head originally broke ? Your best bet at this point is to just get an entire jdm engine. Just give up on that one.

I did have the oil pan off and did the gasket and there was no metal. The only damage i found was the broken cam. And i thought it was caused by over torquing the cam gear bolt at first. Later i found a post where they lifted the car on the oil pan and the cam broke in the same place as mine so i was paying attention to oil pressure when it was back together.

Btw i bought it this way from a hack mechanic shop. The car ran great for a little while.

My main question was if i should have oil pressure from the pressure sensor because the only diagram i've found and 1/2 the stuff ive read says yea the other half says no. it looks to me like it comes from the oil pump goes to pressure sensor then to solenoid.

The car is worth about $500 more than i have in it now so no new engine. Its my first Honda though and i did really like the way it drove for the 2 miles i drove it.

I bought a head from nwcylinderheads, for $200. It was machined already, all i had to do was put on cam gear and set valves. Really easy set up, 15K on it now, runs perfect still. I repalced both the VTEC gaskets when I put it in.
