Default Narrowing down cause of power window fault

A few weeks ago on my 01 LX sedan, the front passenger power window stopped working with it all the way up. Neither the switch on the passenger door or the master switch panel on the driver side gets it moving.

First, I noticed the fuse was blown and replaced that, but the problem still persists. With the new fuse in, there is a single, faint click from the window motor when pressing the passenger side window switch in either direction, and another when I let go, as if the motor is trying to engage/disengage. I hear nothing at all when trying to engage the motor from the driver side switch panel.

With the new fuse in, the window motor makes a single, faint click at regular intervals(every 10-15 seconds or so) while the car is running, without pressing any switches. Also, the motor becomes extremely hot in just a couple minutes with the fuse in. I have pulled the fuse and things have stayed cool, as expected.

I swapped the front passenger window switch with the one in the rear(which works fine). After doing this and reinstalling the fuse, there was no change on the front window, and the rear window works using the front's switch, so I'm ruling out a bad pass-side switch.

What are the chances that the passenger window switch on the driver-side master panel has malfunctioned in the "up" position? I'm no technician, but:

1. regular clicking from motor without switches being pressed
2. motor seemly trying to engage/disengage when pressed from the passenger side switch
3. no sound when attempted from the driver's switch panel
4. excessive heat from the motor when the fuse is installed

All these seem to suggest to me that there is power going to it non-stop. The single, quick click when pressing the passenger side switch is similar to that when I try to roll any other window up further when it's already up.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what steps to take next, besides getting a replacement? I was planning on pulling both front and rear pass window motors to swap them, seeing if it's just a bad motor or a deeper electrical problem. I didn't even think about it possibly being a bad driver side switch panel until a few minutes ago. Should I bother swapping the motors yet? Is there anything else I should try before that?

Edit - I've tried searching this subforum, but can't seem to find anything that I haven't already tried or am planning to do.

To see if the motor works, take your cordless drill battery and 2 jumper wires and jump from the battery to the motor connector. Try it both ways to be sure.

^I had seen others mention that. My cheap drill has an internal battery, but I'll see if a relative has one I can borrow.

Any battery (at least 12V) will work, it's just the easiest way that I've found.
