Knock sensor issues. Help needed!
Hey all. I'm new to this forum, and the automotive world for that matter, and am looking for your help! I'm looking for my first car and found this wonderful 99 Civic with low mileage. There's one problem with the car and that's with the knock sensor. So he replaced it and proceeded to tell me "Knock sensor connector does need to be replaced because it seems to rattle itself loose.. light comes on then goes back off. That is the only issue I've ever had." My question is what is the difference between the knock sensor that he replaced and this connector that i have to replace? Also, is this going to be something that's hard to do? expensive? Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
Do you not know how a butt connector works?

I heard that some newer hondas require you to take apart almost half the engine (exaggeration im sure but still) just to replace the knock sensor and fix it. As someone who needs to do this himself and has 0 experience with cars this scares me. Is it in a tight spot but accessible? or am I going to have to take **** apart?

ok well sense its a wire its a matter of taking off the connector, once thats taken off pull gentley and bring it down as far as you can get it hopefully past the oil filter, its a really tight fit by there..
Then splice the wires put on the but connectors to the new knock sensor unit and then plug it back in your done.. shouldnt be too hard im sure once you can get it off maybe you can even pull the wire up to the top and put the connectors on to the unit.. Its just a matter of reaching and getting a good angle to take it off. Trial and error you can do this!
