Advice on buying a cylinder head
So I recently trashed my GSR head, so I've been looking for a new one.
Originally, I was looking for something bare to have rebuilt with new valves/guides/seals etc.
But I've come across a GSR head in my area for a good price.
The guy I've spoken with knows virtually nothing about it, so I'm wondering what I should check for when I go look at it tomorrow.
It appears to have flat face valves and supertech aluminum retainers. That's about all I can see in the pictures with my inexperienced eye.

I'd find out who assembled the head. All the best parts dont mean squat if you experience valvetrain failure because of a stupid rookie mistake. If you can, trace it back to the assembler/machine shop, it will give you an idea if its ready to run or not.
If its that reallly of a good deal, get it and take it to your machinist or builder to recheck everything. It can only take a couple thousandths of an inch to ruin your day.
With that being said, at least they used some lube when they installed the valves. It does look clean and "semi" freshly re-surfaced.
