Hello, I have a 1998 Honda Civic Lx and I'm having some A/C compressor problems. I recently changed my old A/C compressor with another off of a same year and model car. The old one self destructed inside and was shot. However, once the new compressor was put in and the system was charged with freon, the clutch would not engage when the A/C was turned on. After thinking it was electrical problems, I started up my car and turned the A/C on. Tapped on the side of the clutch a few times with a rubber hammer and it finally engaged. However, it would slip and disengage and re-engage frequently. Would a new clutch fix this problem all together? If anyone can help that would be awesome. If you have any questions please ask. Sound like the armature plate/pulley clearance is too large and needs a new shim.
