Civic EF, lookig to get near 200hp
Hello all,
Just picked up thus nice commuter here, I bought it because my old car wastes to much gas and I need more 20mpg to travel to work.
I think the car is equipped with a D15, car is a all stock as far I know, only has 120,000 miles got it for 750$. Anyways I am looking to hear whatost of you have done to reach near 200hp CRANK. i
I was thinking a turbo and supporting packages, exhaust and all goodies, and intake. But I dong know what are some good partsvfor these civics. I want to know what most of you guys use like, brands, types of turbos you guys would reccomend.
Anything to help would be great, I dont know much I want to be able to beat all the stock civics with loud exhausts.
I used to have to have a 1990 Eclipse GSX and ripping kids off the line is a big thing for me so a low rpm spooling turbo would be good. $$$$ is not a problem just dont want to spend to much so i can have some cash for my DSM.

Look in the Forced Induction section. 200hp with a turbo is completely doable. Check out go-autoworks.com when you have a chance (don't limit your choices but just throwing out a start point for prices and references).
Forced induction isn't where I would start since you have a stock civic that is probably 25 years old. I'd recommend at least a motor rebuild if you want to stick with what you have. 200 Crank HP can be done with a GSR swap plus intake, header, exhaust, and a butt dyno.
Just an FYI, a lot of the loud civics are slow autos with literally nothing done performance wise. That D15 will keep pace with the newer non-Si autos.

$750 isn't much so my assumption is that if you blew the motor it would impact your lifestyle greatly.
To get into a turbo system that be reliable for a daily driver is NOT going to happen with a cheap eBay system.
Expect to pay $2000+ to reach the 200hp goal. Yes you can do it for less if you get some deals or some nice used parts, but it still will be double your budget.
Who knows... prove me wrong!
Take a look into a T25 turbo or maybe even a Mitsubishi TD05 possibly a TD06. They should work for your low end and fall flat on the top end.
Maybe you can piece together the rest of the system.

I definitely didn't read with much focus.
Now I'm reading again and it's a stock D15.
Can't do anything performance with that engine. Must do a DPFI to MPFI conversion.
Given the tired age of the motor, I wouldn't trust it to hold up to much performance modification.
You are right.
