Icon2 B18b1 ticking

I have a 96 Acura Integra with a b18b1 LS and I started to hear a ticking noise a few days ago. It sounds like its coming from around the timing belt area. Its not very loud, only noticable when im idling. It does get faster when i accelerate but not louder. Im not having any idling issues and my car performs like normal. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Just the valves ticking. You need a valve adjustment. Isn't terribly hard, just a bit time consuming. Look up a youtube video on valve adjustment

There are separate sub forums for every model and year range. Please do everyone a favor in the future and make sure you're posting in the right one.

That said, you probably need a valve lash adjustment.

That's what I thought but wasn't 100%. And I didn't see the integra forum at first so I went with the next best thing. Sorry.

Also will it hurt to drive it? I have to get to work but it won't be more than 10 miles I'll be able to get to adjusting it tomorrow.

You'll be fine. Just make sure the motors cold before you adjust them tomorrow.

Update, was driving girlfriend to her class and went to show a friend the ticking. Popped the hood and started the car and there was no ticking. Got all the way home with no ticking and was really confused about the whole thing. Started the car later to go fishing and still no ticking, got to the gas station and heard it again. Kept clicking from the gas station to the fishing spot, then from there to a red light and didn't hear the ticking anymore. When I got home it was ticking again, thoughts?

Is it a rapid ticking? It might just be the injectors your hearing. I would still adjust the valve lash if you haven't done that recently and see if the noise is still there after.

I will still do the valve lash but I wouldnt say its a rapid ticking. When I'm idling it ticks with the lobe of the motor and speeds up when I accelerate but doesn't get louder like when I'm driving I cant hear it at all. My buddy said it could be a belt?

Belts dont tend to tick, when they get worn they usually just squeal or break. After you do the adjustment try to get a recording of the ticking if it doesn't go away.

i have a video of it now, and also i think i found the problem. While checking under the hood again i hit the throttle and saw some exhaust escape from the header near the head on the side where i was hearing ticking, going to replace the gasket and see if that works. Still going to do the valve adjustment just not right away i dont have the time this week. Will update when gasket is changed. I'll post the video if i can ever figure out how.

That could be the ticking. As it heats up it might even seal the leak.

as it heats up it gets worse. cold start theres no ticking and as it heats up im guessing the gasket pushes out the header and you can hear the valves.

Replaced the gasket and fixed the exhaust leak but it still ticks, could it be the air compressor? Its coming from the lower side of the engine around the belts and ****. I've read other threads on here saying it ticks when its about to go out but still not sure.

Pop off the accerssory belts after it warms up and see if the noise goes away. Dont run it long cause you'll kill the battery
