Default my s-20 manual tranny fluid capacity anomoly

greets, to the point. my recently acquired 94 eg cx 5 speed hatch has a bad ISB. until I have the cash to replace it I thought changing out the fluid wouldn't be a bad idea.
my owners manual states capacity is 1.9 quarts 10-w-30 and I believe I read the same thing in the factory service manual. also that it is splash lubricate. I drained the fluid replaced the drain bolt and crush washer and put in 2 quarts 10w30 and it wanted a third quart to bring it up to the bottom of the fill hole.... what the heck, it took 2.9 not the 1.9 specified. I did this with vehicle level and gave the oil time to settle and with tranny slightly warm.
so whats the deal...is it overfilled? the fluid is right at bottom of fill hole but as stated 2.9 quarts..... some insight please! thanks in advance guys
best regards Dave

Picture of said fill bolt? How did you warm the trans (unrelated; just curious).

ron, that is the info ^ I was using from my owners man. yeah it states 1.9 not the 2.9 it took.
photos uploaded to my garage... I noticed when I took photos of the fill bolt that the tranny is marked in the front s-20 and the rear p-20.. photos below... if they don't post up or you cant open link as stated they are in my garage under ling which is my hatch.
photo of filler bolt posted as requested... hope it helps

P-20/S-20 is the proper transmission for the year.

Personally I'd say you somehow mixed up an empty bottle with the two bottles you used to fill the tranny but I'm sure you would disagree vehemently. And I wouldn't blame you a bit for disagreeing. That is quite the anomaly.

The S20 means it's the aluminum shift forks while an S40 is the steel shift forks. S20 is pre 96 while S40 is post 95. I'm not sure if the S20 was used prior to 92. I had thought pre 92 were cable transmissions while 92 on up switched to hydraulic transmissions.

The P20 I believe is in reference to the casting code which you will find above the axle a bit up from the fill whole. In the circle you should find P20/A000 or P20/B000.
