Power steering leak on 02 Accord
I've had a very slight leak from my power steering pump over the last few years. I've never had any fluid dripping from the pump. There's only been dust and dirt accumulate around the pump and stick to the seeping fluid. Just today I noticed the power steering fluid was below the lower level. My power steering works great but I was wondering if there is any easy fix to stop this leak. Wasn't sure if there are seals I can replace or if the entire pump would have to be replaced.
A few choices here.
1. Live with the small leak until it gets really bad.
2. Rebuild the pump yourself. These are pretty simple pumps and rebuild pretty easy.
3. Get another pump from a parts store or bone yard.

Are there any write ups anywhere to show the rebuild?? I saw a write up for a 98-01 Acura Integra which looked pretty similar to my pump but wasn't sure if it's the same or not. I'd like to rebuild it if possible.
You can get a service manual for ~$22 and it will show the steps and spec's.
Couldn't find anything online, didn't look long, for the 6th gen ps pump but did find this for a 7th gen: http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/foru...-accord-57704/

All right thanks guys for the replies, I'm gonna get the kit from auto zone and try to tackle it tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. If it goes bad, at least I'll get a good forearm and bicep workout while driving.
good luck. just make sure to watch the videos and make sure you hve all the right stuff to get it done. so you wont have to make multiple trips to autostore and or get stuck on a step
Got the o-rings installed and now no more leaks!! It was actually rather easy to take apart the pump and install the o-rings. One thing though, the ps pump kit came with a seal in which you have to remove the pulley to replace the seal. Since I had the part I figured why not replace it. I removed the pulley then removed the snap ring. I couldn't get the gear to come out and figured it probably required a gear puller to remove it so I didn't bother. Otherwise everything is good, thanks for the help!
