Benefits of an ome Type-R exhaust on gsr?
Do they really make any power? How is the flow? I just wanna make the exhaust on my 98 gsr quieter (trust evo.) and was wondering about the flow with a itr exhaust, or im just going to put a better resonator on the trust
people have said that they noticed no power loss when they changed from an aftermarket exhaust to a itr oem exhaust but dont know from experience
I think the oem itr exhaust if roughly around the same size as a comptech cat back, so you may see similarities in horse power gains from the two. Check around for people who have dynoed their car after replacing the oem one with an itr exhaust.

The bottle-necks aren't anything to get your panties up in a bunch over. I got the whole ITR catback for 140. I believe it flows 30% better than the Gizzer exhaust.

About a month and a half ago I replaced my stock cat-back exhaust on my '94 GS-R with a new Type-R cat-back exhaust. I defenitely noticed a increase in power, especially above 5,500 RPM. The sound level of the Type-R exhaust isn't that much different than stock, but it does have a deeper tone.
The Type-R cat-back exhaust is 57.2mm (2.25") mandrel bent piping [an increase of +6.4mm~8.6mm over stock] throughout to increase air flow. The muffler is a multi-chamber design, and does a wonderful job of dissipating sound. However, the funnel-shaped piping in-between the chambers makes it a very free-flowing exhaust. Furthermore, in order to lighten/strengthen the parts, stainless steel was used.
The complete Type-R exhaust (header --> muffler) flows 30% better than stock. Here is a diagram which shows the differences.
Just an FYI, the Type-R B-pipe will need to be extended 4.5" to fit properly on a '94-'99 GS-R.

thanks mucho for the info guys,
BSQ: Your get 2x
for the visuals amigo
thanks again. i had a magnaflow put on as a resonator today, the previous jackass had a friggin Cherry Bomb on there, which pains me since it it a greddy evo canister and tubing. Its still too loud for my taste, so i'll off it and get an oem ITR exhaust. i have dc headers so itr headers arent too necessary
i appreciate it, you "R" owners are definitely a class above the majority of the Teg board guys
