Default wont stay running

I have a 97 civic 1.6l. The car starts up, but once it reaches idle rpm , it dies. I've noticed that having any electronics on while running makes it stall as well. I'm lost and I need this fixed quick. Any help would be appreciated

Is your CEL on? Does it work? What does it idle at just before dying? After it dies, can you start the car again, or do you have to wait for it to cool down? Try unplugging the IACV - does it still die when it reaches temperature?

Also, clean the IACV and test the alternator, and then go from there.

Thanks guys, I checked the fluids too and noticed that the oil was bone dry and my coolant fan won't run ( just bought the car). I filled it up and its not having the problem anymore, but what it's the easiest way to diagnose the fan. Thanks again.

Cel is on, and I unplugged the IACV, it sits around 1250. I'm waiting for a code reader to get the code. Just for laughs I plugged the IACV back in and the car died

Screw a code reader. All you need is a paper clip to jump the service connector.

That's my problem, I don't know where it's at, or I would have tried that already. I know it's blue and on the passenger side

It's by the ECU. Remove the kick panel and start searching.

14 - IACV. Make sure it's plugged in. If it is, clean it. If it's plugged in, unplug it - does the car still die when it reaches operating temperature?
67 - Catalytic Converter. Do you have one? Do you have a secondary O2 sensor?
72/73/74 - Random misfire cyl's 2, 3, and 4. When was your last full tune-up? Check your ignition timing.

When I unplugged the IACV and the car reached temp it didn't die, it sat at about 1250 rpm. As for the tune up, that's happening some time this week as well as a new exhaust. The car has 225000 on it so I was expecting some issues

Remove, fully clean, and reinstall the IACV. Reset your ECU, and see what codes return.

Ok, so I replaced all the plugs and wires, cap and rotor, cleaned the iacv, and rest the ecu. I'm still having the same problem though. Hard to start, then when it hits idle just turning the wheel cuts off the engine. Any other ideas?

Sounds like this engine was abused. Are you still getting CELs? How many miles on it? Compression test the engine.

Since I reset the ecu no lights have come back on, and it has 225000 on it. I still have to check the timing, and a compression test is next as well.

I have a cold air intake, the sensor that's in it, maf? I pulled it out and the tip of it is melted, car smells like it's burning way too much gas, like it's not getting enough air

This happens when people accidentally swap the IAT and the evap purge solenoid plugs.
