J30a running very rough and smoke
My buddy just changed out the head gasket and had the heads rebuilt on his sister Oddesy. He got it back together and when started it's running really rough and black smoke. He checked it with his OBD reader and no codes.
He said one engine banks plugs looked ok, the other side was black.
What should we do from here? Timing issue or something else?

Ok so I stopped by to look at it. No smoke it was oil that was in the header. It's pulling no codes no CEL just running somewhat rough and revving up and down from 1000 to 2000 rpm.
Where should we start to figure this out?
