Default Bigger Turbo, Bigger Problems

At least that is what an older gentleman told me last Thursday at the drags. He had previously seen my car run constant 6.6, 6.7's at the 1/8th mile - and when he asked me what was going on - I told him I was trying to kill the bugs on the bigger set up.

So from 550 hp on a GT35R and 1200cc RC injectors - We decided to go with a GT40R Dual Ball Bearing and 2200cc injectors and the outcome was:

645hp @ 403tq - We left it at that... could have gone more, but I like to walk before I run.

Needless to say, I left home wondering what if... What if I have left it alone or what my time would have been if the car wouldn't have bogged off the line or act up with a boost cut...

Best 2 passes of the night on an 1/8th mile track was 8.60 @ 110.42mph with the car completely dying on 1st and my second pass was 8.09 @ 61.84mph -with a major boost cut on 3rd but a 1.54 60ft I asked myself "If only the car would have taken off the hole or if only 3rd gear would have caught on - Until next time... Here are some pictures.

At the moment, that is exactly what it is.... Unfortunately.

Maybe the next time out I will have a better outcome

Just got some bugs to work out, no biggie. Sucks you gotta do it at the track though. No small roads around you that you could work stuff out on?

The 1.54 60' ain't no joke!

I did almost the same thing. We want to go fast so badly that sometimes we bypass the steps of just dialing in the chassis and log seat time. So before we even get used to our car we are changing ****.

Best plan is to just ride your setup until you have gotten totally comfortable with it and know what the cars issues are....then upgrade slowly and do the same.

Yep, after running my setup i realized if I just changed my turbo and went with a 6262 I could run faster. I than realized I had a lot of needed improvement on 60 foot times and also needed some upgrades to my suspension and that is what I have really focused on.

I would love to work on the car on the roads, but it is too big of a risk. I wouldn't want to deal with the car getting impounded, tickets, etc. I just have to be patient lol

QFT.

The last personal track car I've had several years ago made a touch over 500whp. The one I've got now makes ~900. Been to the track twice and haven't made a clean pass yet.
