Google is your best friend. Most part stores are equipped with "salesman"

an electrical load test is actually done with a machine that will place a set amount of strain on the electrical system and monitor the ability of the charging system to recover from the strain. It will help determine any issues with the charging system

If you're talking about the old-school carbon pile test, or the newer digital version, that may be an incomplete test.

The ELD from Honda is a way for the PCM to detect the amount of load and tweak the alternator output accordingly, so you're not going full-blast charging if you don't need to.

Would a traditional charging system test deal with this? I guess it would test "WOT" for the alternator, so to speak, but I'm not sure about half, quarter, or light load issues.

Ive used some old school testing units. Basicall a box that connects to the charging system very simply with a **** that you can put immediate stress onto the system with.

make sure the wires dont have too much resistance in them. any auto store that sells a brand with a lifetime warranty should do

Avoid part store brands at all costs. Alternators can not be any more of a crapshoot from them than any other part especially with honda charging systems having dual modes. Just get a denso reman from rockauto and be done with it.

Ok im just going to replace the entite fuse box since the ELD is integrated into it on the 91model. Now im having an issue with my fuel pump too (i think) because it will drive great for about 10 mins and then it will cut off when i try to apply the accelerator/gas petal.
can the ELD cause problems with fuel distribution?

No but a bad main relay can. Hook up a fuel pressure tester and gently lay the hood on the gauge while pointed at the windshield so you can watch fuel pressure when it cuts off. Harbor Freight has one for $20 that fits our car.

Changed the fuse box and the ELD code went away for about 2 weeks and the car ran great. The code popped back up yesterday but no signs of a decline in performance. Im just going to ride it out, im really perplexed at this point

What code is popping up? Have you searched online to see if others have a similar issue?
