Default Wet sanded through base coat...

I'm repainting a 95 Del Sol and while I was wet sanding (1000) the door, I cut through to primer in a spot. Should I sand and prime it all again, or just respray the color over the 1000 grit sanded door?

Details:
DIY painting in a home garage.
Using single stage Nason Acrylic with reducer and hardener (Glossy Black).
The paint had a little orange peel and I cut through along the crease in the lower part of the door.

are you doing a respray of the same color because you just wanted to? or are you changing colors? or did u do body work and have to respray the car?

if you are just doing a normal respray of the same color then you should be able to just spray a light coat over the small area that you broke through, let it flash, THEN spray the first full coat over the whole car let flash then followed by the second and/or third and clear.

it shouldnt be noticeably wavy or anything if u were wetsanding (properly) OEM paint for a respray. but if there were multiple layers from previous paint jobs and you broke into the primer, then maybe i would do a spot primer and sanding before i layed the basecoat.

stick to 800wet or 1000wet for a respray. but if you're changing colors i'd go 500-600grit spray sealer, then base n clear.

I am repainting the entire car. It was a collection of mismatched parts (red- black- orange) after originally purchasing it as a parts car a couple years ago. The basic car was black with peeled clear coat.

if there were multiple layers from previous paint jobs and you broke into the primer...
I wasn't clear enough in my original post. I have already: Done minor body work, primed the entire car, sanded with a 600 block, then sprayed the color. The door had some orange peel (gun too far from surface) and I sanded through where the door has a structural ridge.

just spray a light coat over the small area that you broke through, let it flash, THEN spray the first full coat over... stick to 800wet or 1000wet for a respray.
That's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the reply.

I'm probably not going to finish it until Sunday. I still need to prime and paint the bumpers and rear window trim. My work schedule is crazy and I don't want to rush the paint.
Here's how it is now, sanded 1000#.

When its all done, I'll post the after pic. My (Harbor Freight) polisher/buffer arrives tomorrow...

I didn't get much done over the last week (sick) so I still don't have an after picture. I did sand and repaint that entire side of the car. I did a terrible job. A couple big runs and a bit more orange peel. Thanks to 3M abrasives and a cheap HF polisher it is, at least, an improvement over the original.

Rinsing after a medium polish:

What is a proper compressor? (Spec wise) Isn't it entirely dependent on the CFM of the gun being used?

CFM's of the compressor, usually a 200 litre and above with high cfm's is best, then gun depends on what size nozzle is on it and obviously how well it sprays
