I've almost got my euro r swap complete but ran into an issue. The JDMmotor came with aftermarket header on it. I would like to use the aftermarket header, but the downpipe us touching the oil pan tightly when bolted up. The down pipe is not touching the front of the oil pan, it is touching the bottom of the oil pan. I am not sure if this issue is caused by the header or the oil pan.

I was thinkingof having a machine shop manufacture a flange/spacer to put between the header and the downpipe. The flange would be ~0.5'' thick but I would liketo hear some other suggestions and ideas before taking the plunge at the machine shop.

How can I prevent the downpipe from touching the bottom of the oil pan?

 

Sounds like the header is bent, get it fixed, or try another header.

 

I don't think the header is bent. Everything lines up flush and, by visual inspection, no part of the exhaust system seems to have a torque applied to it. Also, the exhaust really only presses against the drivers side of the oil pan where the pan is sloped to allow the exhaust to pass. Which seems to indicate that the oil pan is different or the exhaust on the euro r is different.

Although I could be wrong.

 

the pan on the euro sits lower, i have the same swap and they said most after market headers will clear it. other option is swapping the pan out. i'm out of country and haven't put a new header on yet. do you know what brand your header is?

 

Keep in mind, whichever pan you use you must use the pickup tube that is compatible with it as well.
