Default B20 cam choice ?

Hi

I'm just in the process of building a high comp cam'd B20 and i've got two choices of cam to use, I've got my old faithful Jun 3's lying around but I've also just got my hands on a set of Crower Stage 3 performance level 5's, so just after opinions as I dont want to pull the motor apart trying different cams if not needed ( we're all on a budget )

the car is being built for drag so idle isnt so much a problem, it's on wiseco 84.5mm pistons running near 14-1 comp has had head work + bottom end balance and lots of breathing mods etc

so what cam would you go for ?

( I've looked everywhere but only dyno's I can find are on Brian Crower cams not Crower )

I run Rocket motorsports M24xx cams in mine, with JE 11.5s I'm making 241whp and 162tq. Customer service before, during and after the sale is excellent, highly recommended. Look them up on Facebook.

We'd never make those figures in the UK not sure why we see such different results, the highest recorded B series in UK is only 255bhp on BC spec 4's, 74mm TB, big bore tri Y, edelbrock intake etc thats only around 210-220 whp !

I'ld love to try some different cams but it's all down to money as said i have my Jun's sat there but the Crowers came up cheap thought what the hell but it'll be mapped on the juns ( better tick over ) then the crowers but didnt want to waste my time taking the Juns in and out if the crowers didnt produce good results

Between the two cams that you currently have I'd definitely use the Jun3s. I've degreed a couple sets of Crowers and seen their results and they still need some improvements to their line of honda/acura cams before being able to compete with companies such as Jun/Skunk2 etc.

Crower cams are IMO mediocre at best. If you have the Jun 3's sitting around and you're trying to stay to a tight budget I'd run those. Otherwise Skunk2 pro 3's RM m24/25 or some DDtech's will perform well also on that motor. What kind of fuel will you be running?

+6 on the exhaust and +4 on the intake. Cams were degreed to spec from Rocket but since we have talked about retarding the exhaust cam to see if the power carries higher up top. Haven't gotten back on the dyno, probably next week or so.

strange, all three rocket cams I've tried all had the intake more advanced by 2, including the M24xx. I'm actually re-tuning my buddies' car with my old M24XX setup. I'll advance the exhaust and see how it goes.

Same here.
I like to set intake LC, then degree exhaust where V2V allows and dyno leads to final settings.

What kind of degree did the M22s I bought off you like? Starting to get the motor put together and a starting point would make life a little easier

I'd personally run the jun3's since you are in a budget. With that comp, what fuel are you running?
