Default single vtec-e hx swap into ek few questions

whats up ht I have a few questions maybe someone can explain to me I'm not too sure about.

I have a ek coupe had the d16y8 in it I spun a bearing and bought a d16y5 (hx)

1. what ecu should I use? my stock p2p from my y8 or should I get a p2n hx ecu?

2. what do I do about the 2nd o2 sensor on the exhaust mani?

some help here would be great i plan on swapping this in this weekend

You probably will want to swap the y8 head/IM/TB onto the Y5 block and call it a day.

for simplicity's sake, yes. to answer your o2 question, the primary goes pre cat, the secondary goes post cat.

This would be the easy button if the head is reusable and any metal particals a flushed out.

If you go full Y5 and P2N you'll need to add wiring for the EGR valve and the wide band primary O2 sensor.

I'm gona use my y8 intake mani. so I don't need to mess with the egr at all. guess I'll be running the p2n as ppl suggested I do. but what about the secondary o2 sensor will I have to wire it straight to the ecu?

The car should already have the secondary o2 sensor if it was a y8. Just swap blocks and intake manifold. I'm not sure how your mpg will change since you're losing the egr.

Is your car auto or manual? You'll have to use the egr if you use the P2N ecu and also wire up the 5 wire 02 if your car is manual.

yeah, just slapping a y8 manifold on it and calling it a day isnt a fix. unless you call a fix a poorly running car with a constant cel.

I don't know if the valve train is the same as a y8 head. Thats my one concern. You'll have to open the valve cover and see for yourself on that one. If it looks any different than you'll have to swap them, correctly in the same position they were in before you removed them.

it isnt. uses roller rockers, etc. you can use your y8 head on that block with your stock ecu. the y5/y8 head combo is 9.4/1 comp, y8 is 9.6/1 iirc. Not enough that you can't use your ecu.

If you have the hx engine harness and hx intake manifold once you get a 5 wire 02 it should be plug and play with no wiring needed unless I'm missing something. This is all assuming your car is a manual.

Do you have the hx manifold? if not you'll need it and it'll be plug and play. also use the hx injectors as well.

You'll need everything from an hx , manifold, egr, wideband o2, ecu. If you can get your hands on the cat get it. It's specifically for this engine. I'm not sure if the hx had it but older models like the vx and the 3 stage vtec had an egr control solenoid.

these are oddball motors. if you have to hunt down parts, you're seriously better off shelling out 100 junkyard dollars for a y8 head.
