Where would it be leaking from. I want to fix it but need some insight. im not too good at finding leaks

You are going to have to drop the tank to see where it is leaking from. Steps include, pulling fuel pump (removal of rear seats), pull fuel pump out, remove gas tank straps after draining fuel, inspect tank for hole. Possibly replace if the hole can't be fixed.

 

If it were me, I would hit the yard and grab a new gas tank and screw trying to patch it .... that's me though .. Advantage would be some hands on trial of learning how to remove it before tackling the real deal, then its a swap in swap out without having to mess with finding / fixing / waiting to dry .. what if the patch leaks again ...

 

im getting a tank tomorrow from my friends parts car. i should get a new pump too. but ill have to get that later. I need this done ASAP.

my mechanic friend told me to run a quarter tank. he said its leaking at the center seam. so running a quarter tank will make it not leak.

 

What good is a tank that you can't use all of it lol.

If the leak is indeed from the seam, swap in the better tank. If it ends up being something like a leaky gasket on the pump plate, just fix the problem.

As Prudz said, the only way to know for sure is to drop the tank and see where the leak is actually at.

 

Did he drop the tank? I have seen various older model Hondas leak from rotted out fuel lines and leak all over the tank....

 

no. but this is in a specific area where no lines are anywhere around

 

ive been running a quarter tank so far, and i haven't seen the leak anymore. so it is the tank
