Strange Idle after the valves clearences have been adjusted
Firstly, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section I've recently joined so i'm still learning where everything needs to go.
Last Thursday i had the valve clearances checked and adjusted, the drive home seemed fine but when i was stopped at the traffic lights and put the clutch down the revs starting dropping to the point it was going to stall then settled and it was idling normally. I did a bit of research and it was suggested to reset the ECU after the valves have been adjusted so i did and it seemed fine.
The next day i was driving and the same happened so i cleaned the IACV and everything seemed fine and after a drive the revs started dropping again. I thought it could have been some carb cleaner still in the IACV but after a few days the same is still happening.
The car still runs fine and doesn't seem to be down on power either.
Its on a UKDM DC2 (B18c6)
Hope it makes sense, thanks in advance

When they take your car somewhere to have your valves adjusted and it somehow only takes em 2 hours to do it then they didn't allow the car to fully cool down first which is a requirement when adjusting valves.
I dropped the car off at the garage in the morning on the way to work and got a lift in. The mechanic did mention it had to be done cold. I dropped it off at 7am and he said he would do it around midday.
I'd like troubleshoot as much as i can myself before taking it back so i can tell him what i have done if i haven't been able to sort it.
Its pretty easy to do. I would recommend checking them yourself. If they are not correct you could either diy it or take it back. Depending on what temps you are seeing the fluids in an engine could still be well over 100F even after the car sat for 4 hours. Some mechanics also just do a lousy job. It is easy but not something you want to hurry on.

All you need to check the clearances is a feeler gauge. However doing adjustments does require a special tool for VTEC b-series engines. If you undertake your own adjustment you will need one (or better yet have a tool maker bend a box wrench for you).
The engine won't idle right if the valves are set on the tight side due to changes in vacuum. Set them cold, at the looser specs and it will idle normally.
