I went to do a pull and it felt like it didn't have as much power as it used to, then as soon as I approached 5000rpm it began to make like a redline sensation kind of bogging, it would slightly go past but I didn't want to go longer. I immediately thought it was an ecu problem so I connected and disconnected the ecu and still nothing. I have a mod list also if anyone would know what's going on.

Long story short, car won't go past 5k rpm and not sure what the problem is. I have a mod list if anyone can help.

 

I had this same issue in my 98 Civic, Found out when rebuilding the head, we took off the vtec solenoid, and didn't notice the spring that fell out of it. During my first race I had the same symptom that the car wouldn't rev past 5000 RPM. Once I replaced the little spring, it was fine. Maybe the vtec solenoid is failing?

 

How would I check that ? Just take the solenoid cover off and check for a spring or what? Haven't ever had this problem before so I'm really unfamiliar with what to do and what's going on

 

You haven't touched it or done any type of work recently to the car? No check engine light?
