CRX Clutch Pedal Assembly 88-89 vs. 90-91
I was comparing my stock 89 CRX vs 90-91 clutch pedal assembly and had some question to ask. On the 88-89, the clutch pedal is retractable when the clutch is press by the small spring on the left hand side connected to a bracket. On the other hand side for the 90-91, the clutch pedal is equipped with a larger spring which locks the pedal when I press it down. Does the clutch cable allow the pedal to retract on the 90-91 CRX pedal?
To make it simple, are 90-91 CRX clutch pedal assembly interchangeable with the 88-89 CRX clutch pedal assembly or do I have to transfer some parts?
Thanks for your help.

90-91 Clutch Pedal
I believe it's just a different type of spring, torsion spring I believe on the 90-91 pictured. Both do the same thing just in a different way (twisting force vs linear force).
The clutch pedals that have the larger gauge spring on the inside of the pedal came from the 89-91 Si while the clutch pedals with the smaller gauge spring came on all the other 88-91 models.
^good info
Yeah bro, I'm still around with the same hatchbacks but I mostly just work now. Good to see you're still active too.

I'm at the point where putting everything back together and it seems like the Si clutch pedal assembly is not retracing back when I press the clutch??? I tighten the clutch cable pretty hard so it retracts back somewhat but very slowly and not smooths.
Are the Clutch cable different for the Si or are they the same?

Do you happen to know if they are interchangeable?
I might have stretched the clutch cable since I heard this POP noise when I kick the pedal assembly but i thought the noise came from the pedal when it broke it....

They are interchangeable. I used a 90Si pedal assembly on my 89 Dx with a auto to manual swap. Bolted right in. The amount of tension on the clutch cable should pull back the pedal no problem.
Great, thanks for the info. I assume the clutch cable was the only thing left...
Should be coming in next week...
Slap in the NEW Genuine Honda Clutch Cable and it works PERFECT!!!!
I'll probable never buy aftermarket clutch cable...

LOL I did that once before, it had so much slack it couldn't even actuate the arm even though it was completely maxed out.
Did your clutch pedal ever make a noise? Mine squeaks when I release the pedal sometimes.
-Hope this isn't too thread jack oriented. Just wondering if I'm going down the same path and should replace the cable sooner than later.

It use to make noise but that was most likely cause from the return spring on the clutch pedal. I used some bearing grease and it went away.
