Hey guys I plan on buying small buildup parts later so I can tear my chit down this summer after getting some track time, but mostly I am looking to build a good road-race, daily driver motor...
Starting w/a full B18C1 swap..
+CTR pistons
+Rods (which, b16?)
+ Adj. Cam Gears
as of now I am undecided on the head - I have the GSR w/skank2 intake mani right now. Should I..
a) P&P w/CTR + ITR cam combo, FPR, already have an ECU from katman.
b) look for an ITR head?
other small chit - JDM 4-1 Header, Exhaust (Fujitsbo RM-01A looking nicey nice)
Tranny/Gearing - should I just
a)GSR tranny - do ATS FD, or JDM FD. Qualife LSD.
b) B16 (SI) tranny w/whatever I listed above
of course the rebuild would include all new bearings/seals.
Already have an Exedy clutch w/toduh flywheel so that will stay.
so whatcha guys think...
other small chit I plan on buying..
-aluminum A/C mount
-ctr n1 crank pulley (No PS, A/C anyway)
thanks for your time...

port and polish the head and get a b16 tranny. you'll put down some good numbers withthe ctr pistons. just be careful with the high compression with those.
you may want to beef up the valvetrain as well

whoops - forgot to add the normal valvetrain upgrades...
ctr pistons in b18c block - 12:1:1 compression roughly, run that on 93 octane? Hopefully I can get Steve Sakai to help w/the build up or tuning...

if it was mine.
B18C1 block:
balanced bottom end , new seals , etc.
either head:
skunk 2/ITR mani and a nice P+P (Steve can help you with that)
stock rods with CTR pistons. (your compression should be fine on 93)
00 ITR/CTR cams and valvetrain with cam gears to tune
JDM 4-1 or any other 2.5" collector header that fits your budget
FPR / Prelude injectors
I may have left something out but that seems about right to me......
trans:
B16 for sure WITH ATS 4.9 FD/LSD and a non organic clutch and a nice light flywheel
I would do SMSP exhaust but Fujitsbo looks nice as well with no bottlenecks.
I would skip the N1 pulley and have yours shaved down and rebalanced , I got this done for $30 and it works just fine.
I love the alum. AC mount but I cant justify the cost.
that set-up would kill on a roadcoarse and be very reliable also......
if I missed anything I'm sorry but its early in the AM.

I was personally looking at the Gude performance head package. Looks like a solid chunk of HP. http://www.gude.com I like to do stuff myself, but sometimes it's easier to get it pre done and then you have the peace of mind.

I do these all the time, whether its CTR pistons in a LS or GSR block they always come out very nicely, top it off with some Toda spec A cams and at least a JDM 4-1 header, if you have money I highly recommend the Toda header. The jdm 4.7 final drive is great too with an ITR lsd.
Use the GSR head, send it out to Portflow, tell Tom that Greg Samaroo sent you, maybe he'll give you a nice discount. He also knows combustion bowl clearance for CTR pistons just let him know which cams you're gonna run.
Other than that you'll be set.
I have about 3 sets of these motors already that are built up with CTR pistons, people love buying them because they are so cheap to build and give very good power outputs.
Good luck, give a PM if you need help or have ?s

awesome - thanks for the info Greg! I'll be sure to PM if I run into any questions..
Once again, I must recommend the Honda Saver US4 cams. You can pick up the whole head package (Hondasaver cams, valvesprings and retainers) for just under $1000. Will own CTR\ITR cams. Our test car is expected to put out over or around 220whp. That is from a B18C1, stock bore.
