cut slits in it ever 1' or so and bend them where-ever the wheel hits.

That should be

cut slits in it every 1" or so and pound it flat.
Because cutting every foot won't be much help...

Would doing it that way cause any structural weakness or anything?

it may weaken that area, but not enough to actually do/cause any damaged.

I recently did it to get more clearance, not ill affects if you bend it over just do a few cuts then smash it with a hammer.

DO NOT CUT IT! Just pound it over and perhaps use a torch to heat it just enough. I promise you that your car will lose ridigity if you cut the seams.

I had a couple people say don't hammer, not on here and some say to grind it.

I actually only live an hour away from you haha, best thing would be to spot weld after you hammer it over to reinforce it a bit.

what do you do with you car ? stance lyfe... DD or light tracking(time attack) you could cut it off completely then weld it once it's flat. but cutting slits in it then hammering it over won't hurt anything. Those who say it will make a noticeable comprise are the same ppl that say "you need a F7 subframe brace" when all they do is auto x and think they're pro race car drivers.

you're NOT separating the weld simply bending it for a section of 1ft heck holes in the floor are a bigger compromise again you're NOT splitting it or cutting it just 2 slips the hitting it to the outside.

WTF does spoon have to do in this thread, where was it even mentioned

You can cut up your car however you like, I'm simply guiding the OP in the correct direction. Not how people THINK it should be done and it MIGHT be okay. If you've ever been to any track OR autocross and seen prepped Hondas you would see how it's done, therefore the Spoon reference was made because I've seen a shoot of some of there cars that were treated the same way. Google helps quite a bit.

I'm waiting for your EXPERT proof that it makes a notable difference, I better go tell my fabricator to stop doing K swaps as it doesn't use the OEM mount/location(s)on the pass side it's just "screwed in".

PROOF or GTFO, my proof we have several cars that have altered rad supports/front bulkheads to fit turbo set ups and I'd love to see you tell them they're hacking their cars up, when they made it to button willow raceway for GTA:SLB.

I never said it wouldn't work, but it doesn't work as well as it could, and a radiator support is slightly different than the pinch welds on a section of the car that holds a lot more load. Keeping poking your stick, you're wasting your time..

Just bent the pinch weld on my car today. Zero cutting, using only a standard carpenters hammer...
