Icon3 SRS airbag light

Hello people of honda tech, I have a 04 honda civic ex sedan, and my airbag light is on. My friend who is taking a auto motive class based on honda/acura, took my car in and had it diagnosed, the teacher (who has worked for honda) immediately notice the light and said it was due to a spilled liquid (possibly soda).

Due to this, i am assuming that a wire must have been short circuited or what not. I am wondering how to fix this. Do i need new wires, fuse, or something? I know resetting it won't do anything and i don't want to spend $$$/take it to the dealership for an easy wiring fix.

Thanks for the help!

If you want our help we need to know the specific code or at least the sensor/airbag that is malfunctioning.

i don't know the exact code because the scanner didn't pick anything up, it's the driver seat airbag i believe, just like in this picture http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/qKIHr3QRDaA/maxresdefault.jpg

except the seat belt seems fine to me, it buckles in fine

this may not apply to your 04 civic but I can tell you what I found out from the dealer about the 2001 civic SRS light. In my situation I was told the SRS light can be on because of an air bag issue or a seat belt buckle issue.
Since the air bag issue was fixed under recall warranty - possible over inflation causing injury. The SRS light was still on - the dealer said it was not under recall and would need to pay to fix - the issue was a sensor in the belt buckle that activated a lock mechanism during a crash. The seat belt works and locks in fine mechanically but apparently there are sensors and a explosive cartridge that goes of and locks the belt in a crash, I was told. The cost was $400 to $700 to replace. I talked to another dealer who did not do the original air bag recall work and was told that if the SRS light was on eventhough the air bag issue was fixed it would NOT inflate because there was an error code in the SRS system - even if it was being caused by the seat belt sensor.
If it is the seat belt buckle issue - the code would tell you - then that is the issue - the dealer told me they have a honda phone number that you can call and honda may give a lower price or discount in getting the seat belt buckle issue repaired.
The wrecker told me that they have seat belt buckles ( again this is for the 2001 civic don't know if 2004 is same) that are from wrecked cars but the sensor and an explosive cartridge in the seat belt buckle that goes of in some crash situations, that are intact and could be replaced for the faulty seat belt buckle - at a lot lower cost. I have not tried this and have not got the code to check since my buddy with the code reader is out of town - but that is the information that I have received from the honda dealer at this point - but has not been consistent from the two dealers - still looking into it and sharing the info for your information.
