Panic button? Is it an aftermarket alarm?

Both doors? In your shoes the first thing I would do is pull the door panel and start inspecting all the mechanisms starting with the actuators. I predict Ron will be up next to tell you what electrical tests to run.

The keyless receiver is located within the radio, and door lock control unit is located inside the driver's door.

When you press "lock" on your fob, a signal is sent from the receiver to the control unit via a Grn/Wht wire. This wire runs from the cabin through the driver's door jamb connector to inside the driver's door. A very common problem is that wires tend to break in the door jamb connector. Check whether the Grn/Wht wire is broken there.
