help me with poly bushing question
K I got the front arms off and I'm looking at bushings on control arm. The bushins has 2 shells how the hell do you get them off I was thinking a chisel to bang out metal shell but I don't want to **** up my controls...so how do you take out bushins to replace them with poly bushings....i did melt out rubber but there is still a metal shell how do I get that out? Do i need to take it to a machine shop to get it pressed out or is there an easier way?

Using either a sawzall or a hacksaw, notch the bushing shell from one end to the other. Be careful not to saw all the way through, and when you have it cut, drive it out with a drift. The cut weakens the hold enough that a drift will do. If you have a press, that certainly won't hurt.

sawing all the way through won't hurt a bit. Just smooth wuth a file.
I used a panel cutting bit in a air chisel. Yes, I scored the arms, but smoothed them with air grinder. That was 4-5 years ago.
Could think of it this way, the poly bushing will swell and LOCK into the grooves.
