Default H2B/spray Disapointed with ET numbers..Seasoned Drag people give me some pointers! :)

So second time ever taking the car out.

first time i ran a best of 12.8 @ 108 with a 2.0 60' on motor. car made 221/156 car weight is 2350ish depending on fuel.

My new best is a 12.1 @119 with a 2.15 60'. this is with running out of gear right before the traps... maybe 50' or so..

The car is on 215/60/14 Mickey thompson ET street II.

Seems like anything over 4500rpm lauch it will just spin... this is with alot of slipping of the clutch as well.. tried 5500, tried 5000 no matter how much i slip the clutch to keep from spinning it still spins.

im on 100 shot only spraying 2-4 gear since obvisously i cant even get out the hole NA anyways. i no this thing is a 11s car.

the car is on OEM suspension ride height.. i installed oem intergra front springs on the rear to stiffen it up a bit.

im trying to stage/preload the car but it definetly sounds easier to do than it is...

I pulled 2.10's on those tires and 1.60's on slicks.

Doesn't sound too bad considering it is the 2nd time you have been to the track with it. It did loose roughly .7 on the et and gain 11 mph so you know the nitrous is definitely working for you. You know anyone with a set of drag wheels with some 23 or 24" slicks that you can borrow? Maybe that could help you launch it and get better grip down low. You drop the 60' and nail your shifts it will go 11's.

What psi were you running in the tires you were using?

Your suspension might be an issue. I had the same tires and was in the low 1.8 making 300hp launching at 6800.

according to your setup, thats a good run for all the problems your having trying to make a full clean pass. get a clutch that doesnt slip, get some tires that will hook better(im sure someone will point you in the right direction on tire size for your setup), get better suspension. your car is definitely a 11 second car easy. according to your HP you should be running 12.0-12.5's on motor if you can cut 1.7-1.8 60fts.

thanks for all the imput. i can tell from my traps the car has the power. im looking into some m&h 235/60/14 bias-ply tires. i wanna keep it street legal as i drive to the track.

my suspension definetly needs work.. i was thinking of installing some sleeves along with the oem spring to stiffin it up some more..

i just got in my lsd dragger clutch today holpfully that helps with the sliping. im just running nitrous off my horn button but i would like to rout it through my neptune ECU at some point.

well maybe i wasnt doing as bad as i thought. i have a total of 7 passes in the car. no miss shifts and they were all no lift shifts....i was thinking about bumping up to a 125shot i just want to brake into 11s haha

but i wanna try one more test n tune to try and dial the car in.

Before you go bumping up the shot, work on getting that short track down. You will see a big improvement from that. After you see some consistency in that and you feel it is doing about all it is going to do, then pill it till you kill it.

I went 11's on a set of 235-50-15" back in 2007. My car made roughly 300whp and the suspension on that was sub par to most. I had a set of Ground Control coilovers with regular KYB struts and that was it. I think I cut some 1.7x 60' with those and I know that I went in 1.8x range.

I say grab some slicks and give it another go. If you can get your 60' down to 1.6 or so I guarantee your e/t will be sub 11.5.

Stick with stock suspension for now and just throw on some slicks. I would get 1.7 60' all day long with slicks and stock suspension.

It's said that every tenth off your 60' time takes two tenths off your e/t.

This car definitely needs slicks. You should be able to launch on the nitrous then as well.

Easy mid 11 second car with slicks.

slicks....but you need to also be preloading....not just slipping the clutch.

at 225whp I would be looking at some 22 or 23" slick. to tall and your just going to bog

I stage one light. leave it in first with the clutch in. pull up the ebrake and hold the button in...if not welcome to burnout time...wait for the other guy to stage both lights. rev to your launch control and slowly let out the clutch till it wants to pull you forward and drag the rear, pull it into the second light, usually there is enough slack in the drive train to pull you into the second staging light without actually moving....when the light drops hit it on the last yellow, drop the ebrake and go....this will remove any drivetrain shock, wheel hop, and help you cut better 60's

your leaving a lot on the table in your short game

A nitrous H2B car would most definitely be able to utilize a 24.5 slick. Nitrous produces a lot of torque needed to turn a bigger tire. If he launches on nitrous he'd be golden.

thanks for all the imput your guys are awesome! a buddy of mine is selling some 24" slicks i was gonna stay away since i thought maybe there were to big but now i may reconsider...

i guess i will chill on the shot for now and work on my short game. i no its not my shifting... but the staging thing thank you!! i had an idea of how to stage but that explains it wayyy more with draging the rear tires to the second light.

Everyone seems to be doubting my suspension ( friends ) for me i kinda had a personal goal to keep the car bone stock in the suspension department and still get into the 11s.

Spraying out the hole would be awesome! i attempted it once but it didnt work out so well just spun... im curious would i spray right as i launched? or right after the car hooks? if it does.. on the 24" slick.

heres a video of the car 12.1@ 119 run..

I wasn't saying you couldn't utilize a 24 slick...only that it will likely dead hook, without a proper preload a dead hook is both an axle and diff killer.

with a 24 you could probably spray right out the hole.

put your slicks down to 8psi, LEAVE on the nitrous, around 7500. Let that **** eat.. learn to preload and hopefully you aren't buttoning the nitrous and have the ecu controlling it.

*Saw your on drag radials* Get some slicks..real slicks. This car is begging for a 23x8x13

No need for tubes. I haven't met anyone that runs tubes in their slicks. I'm not saying people don't, just people I've discussed this topic with have said they don't use them. They're used because without them you will lose air but as long as you're checking them after every pass and inflating if necessary you'll be fine.

On 23x8x13 m&h slicks my car ran 12.5 @110. Its stock bottom h2b on b16 trans itr diff. Crower stage 2 cams. Skunk 2 springs and shocks full race traction bar. Fully gutted. So I would think slicks would help a lot.

Well i decided to go out and give it another go with my mickey thompsons before switching over. i was able to cut a couple tenths off my 60' pre loading the car but i was still spinning if i tried to leave the line any more than 6k. i did break into 11s tho! Car #75

here are some pictures of the slip and also my new tires i just got mounted. them seem promissing but man there a hand full to drive on the street! (tires pull you everywhere!)

they are 235/60/14 M&H Bias Ply

Get some real slicks and swap them on the car at the track. Then swap back and drive home.

Enjoy 1.6 60fts.

Those are nylon radials. Great tire. I've done anything from 1.69 to 1.8 60' with those tires. Much better than the heavy *** ET street II. You won't be disappointed, good luck!
