Default crx stage rally footage

Stage 1 of last weekends Rally America STPR in Pennsylvania. 91 crx with ZC engine and tranny with quaif LSD and Mfactory 4.9 final drive. Was a rough stage but we managed to get 1st in Group 2. Unfortunately the clutch blew apart on stage 3. Had a blast though, fun rally. Shaved 1 minute off our previous stage time 2 years ago, due to the new final drive.

I'd love to put some up, but I'm afraid I don't know how to post them.

Hotbits rally suspension out of Canada. A standard coilover with flat helper springs. Adjustable comp and rebound and fully rebuildable. They make rally setups for pretty much every car out there and last about 10 rallies until their seals are worn out.

OK, thanks. Here's all of the photos that I have. The cage was built to the standard FIA rally cage documents. After the build, the cage was drilled to verify tube thickness, then Number stamped and issued a logbook at its first rally. http://s1227.photobucket.com/user/se...?sort=3&page=2

Thanks for pics!

Looks like massive amounts of fun.

Can you tell me the thought process of the extra A pillar down tube and why there ended up being a kink in it?

The extra A pillar down bar was added to the FIA,Rally America, NASA rallysport rally car cage requirements for all rally cars built after 2008. When looking at the side of the car (bar), the bar can not be bent in that plane. When looking at the front view of the car(bar) bends cannot exceed 15 degrees (I think, It's been a while since I looked at the documents). Some people bend that bar, some don't. I did for a few reasons- 1. I wanted it to line up on the same plane as the doorX, mainly to maximize knee room, I'm 6'2". As you know, space is a precious commodity in a CRX. and 2. to maximize hand clearance on the steering wheel, which is a larger than average rally car wheel because of lack of power steering. Lots of Subaru's, BMW rally cars don't have a bent A pillar reinforcement, because those cars are a lot less tapered on the vertical plane. It held up well during a roll at Black River Stages Rally in 2012, with no deformity. Although I guess that doesn't say a whole lot, since the car is so light. It would have to be one hell of a roll to deform a properly caged CRX. Here is a link to a basic drawing of the cage requirement from Rally America. This is a simplified drawing but there can be variations of this design. -http://www.rally-america.com/info/2008_Rollcage.pdf
hope that helps - Sean

cool thanks. glad youre safe. i have no doubt the cage is good. just wanted to hear your thoughts. i figured the hand clearance was a major factor.
