99 civic ex - code P1456
light is on and i went to auto zone, had them run a diagnostic and come to find out that my its my gas cap ,mind you this gas cap is like 2-3 months old and was working just fine it tightened tighter than a virgins daughter, and lately it hasnt been tightening right so i found out the o ring on the gas cap was gone so i went and bought a new one , i put it in and it was not that tight i even had that thing clicking a good 5-6 times, and low and behold my check engine light is on again well, back to autozone, same gas cap code and well i got pissed and bought another gas cap, but the thing about the gas cap i had was that it tightened perfectly and the new gas cap just kept clicking and clicking, it seemed like the other cap was stiff like it actually tightened correctly so idk what to do, because seeing the check engine light makes me freak out so anyone ask questions or help me out?
I have never had an issue with a gas cap on my 96. I am running a solid billet custom cap so there's nothing to click. It doesn't even make that whooshing noise when I take it off. No codes.
Why don't you post up the actual trouble code?

just topped off my break fluid and then moved over to my throttle and took two wrenches and tweaked out the throttle line so it had some slack but it wasnt so tight that it was pulling the throttle open
I'm having this same issue, Gas cap code. gas cap is new. Replaced fuel neck due to rust.. got replacement O-ring kit for my injectors coming.. smell fresh gas every now and then but very rare. Normally when we fill the tank. Car runs good, seems to me as something silly. Clueless. If someone could please help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
