QUICK answer plz ok to drive with no gas cap?
I just pumped my gas and forgot to screw back on the cap. Is it ok to drive without a gas cap? The gas whole has a metal circle u have to put in for it to go in so would this protect it? This was my first time pumping and i guess i forgot. I need a fast answer before driving off for practice.

A code is a warning that your ecu gives you. It senses when something is wrong and triggers a light on your dash to come on. Dont worry about it. I did the same thing back in the day with my civic and went the entire tank with no gas cap. Just stop by wal mart or auto zone and pick up a new one.

I've done worst....I pulled away from the gas station with the pump still in my tank......lol, let just say I was doing illegal substance ans it was way back in HS and yeah...WHOOOPS!!

Fibers and misc stuff on the rag will get into your tank and will end up going into your motor

In the meantime I say grab some saran wrap and a rubber band until you can go get a new gascap.

Gas stations are used to this.
Go back after practice and head inside. They'll probably have it sitting in a little box waiting for you.
I used up a whole tank without the cap, and when I went to the gas station a week later, and realized I didn't have the cap, I went inside and just picked the cleanest one out of a box of 10 or 15 they had.
