idk how many I've gone threw for one stupid reason or another but lets assume other ppl have better luck then me. So how long do your CAP n Rotor last ? I know the non oem ones are **** I'm curious to the life span of OEM Honda ones. I recently switched back to an OEM distributor and got a new cap n rotor from Honda.

You mean "through".
"Threw" is a different word.

I threw the ball.
I threw the ball through the window.
I have gone through so many parts I cannot count, and in doing so I threw all my money away.

"Then" is a different word.

Steve is dumber than me.
Steve dropped out of school, then he went on welfare.
I maintained my car worse than I should have, and then it broke down.

OE will last almost forever. But, like any other parts, they will experience wear and wear-related damage. As they wear, and as corrosion and erosion advance, more and more load will be thrown on the coil, shortening its life.

As a general rule, you can expect about five years or about 60,000 miles out of an OE cap and rotor before corrosion and erosion begin to overload the coil.

The secondary ignition system is a unit comprised of coil, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. For utmost reliability, it is wise to replace all but the coil every five years/60K if using platinum/iridium plugs, and the plugs every 10K if using regular plugs.

Ahhh, GDD grammer staff.
I knew what you were trying to say bruh.

My OEM caps lasted over 100k. I'll pop m off like every 30k or so and lightly clean the inner terminals with a dremmel until shiney and clean. I havn't bought a cap or rotor in soo long on any of my Hondas.

my rotor turns 20 years old next month.
the screw is jammed and i've been too lazy to drill it out.
not sure if it's brass or bronze or what but they shouldve made the rest of the car out of the same stuff lol. replaced cap/icm/coil of course but the rest
is still factory fresh.

Missing a comma, Champ.

How does one "throw" a load? I suggest using a more descriptive word, such as "transferred."

You're welcome.

If you're going to offer unsolicited grammar and spelling corrections, your grammar had better be perfect.

In response to OP, I've owned my car for 10 years and have replaced my cap and rotor three times.

In my 2001 service manual, it says a tuneup isnt necessary until 105k miles.

105k is the benchmark i suppose, but each unit will have a different life span based on many variables: temperature conditions, driving styles, # of heat cycles, environmental conditions...etc

I have 50k on mine and last time i checked, everything still looked fantastic. Slight burn mark on the contact points(normal)
