Default mini me swap

is putting a 1.6 head on a 1.5 worth the trouble

if you can get the parts at a decent price i would disagree with the "no" posts.
I did one on my VX block and its a great temporary setup, I'm concentrating on suspension and such now until money for a swap develops. It'll give you decent gains, dont expect a huge huge difference, its noticable and a fun difference, but not like a swap.

the 1.5 should be really noticable, get a y8 headgasket it is thinner. But you can ick up a z6 for 400 bucks at the slavage yard

does putting the z6 head on a 1.5 block give you better compression than using a straight z6?? im thinking about doing this for a temporary set up too.

i think you should go with the d16 because the bottom end on the 1.5 isn't good enough for future mods

put the z6 head on with a 2mm head gasket and boost it... get pretty good gain.. from about 6 lbs

No not at all. You can get a D16Z6 motor from the junkyard for like 300-400 dollars. Why waste time and money on just doing a head swap and hoping to get as much power?

Yes if using the d15 dx block such as the d15b7....it will yield higher compression due to the dx's pistons...and like posted above use the y8 head gasket to bump up your compression a few more points.....some people also use zc pistons in a mini me setup and have seen impressive gains...and some say the zex cam works wonders also....
so, all in all, a d15 block and an z6 head should put out more power than a straight up z6

I agree; taking into consideration the compression gained from doing the 1.6 head on a 1.5 block and using the head gasket from the y8 will bump it even higher, i'd say that you would see more from that than a full d16 swap. Also, most people can find the head and gaskets for cheaper than they can find the total swap, i found one for $50 and i know where there alot more where that came from.... good luck finding a full swap of anything cheaper than you can find a head and gasket to swap.

Very carefully

id go with everything stock, use an EX harness with an EX ECU, and just hook everything up normal if it was a EX. should work right guys? plus Vtec switches, herd very bad things... i say stick with stock

if you want to use your stock ecu you can use a summit racing rpm switch...to can set it up to activate at any rpm....i have one for sale btw never used...

check out this link for a how-to and it talks about the summitt rpm switch...

on the 88-91's or any setup that uses a vtec controller, how do you richen the fuel mix? wouldn't you run dangerously lean if you just had vtec engage with lets say an 88-91 si ecu, or any non vtec ecu? im doing something close to this, and was wondering on my options on how to make vtec engage SAFELY

you should be able to monitor and change fuel with the vafc, that would allow you to run your dx computer. I got an ex computer for mine. as far as the older swaps i think a VAFC would definatly be the way to go. But, you will need an air fuel gauge and d dyno run would be benifical.. about a 400 dollar investment...
