Stock Radio Code, Can I get it while the radio is still connected?
OK, so my Mother gifted my son her 1990 Honda Accord EX.
Great car and just over 100K too.
It lately began stalling in hot weather.
I shorted out the Wires near the passenger kick panel, and checked the code.
I got 15, Engine output signal.
I ordered OEM 7026A Ignition Module from Amazon and installed it.
The car seems to start easier, so I think that I fixed it, but the Check Engine Light is still on.
I want to Disconnect the battery in order to reset the ODB1 codes, but I don't know the code to the stock radio.
Is there a way to learn the code on this old bird?
The stock radio is working now, but I'm afraid that it will die if I disconnect the Batttery.

Supposedly there's a tool that you plug into the cigarette lighter that keeps battery power to the vehicle even with the battery disconnected.
However, you can take your car down to the dealer and upon verifying ownership they will pull up the code for you.
I usually clear the code but some codes apparently will erase from the memory after some time. I'm not an expert on which ones though.

Does the lighter stay HOT when OFF?
On CDs the lighter is off when the key is not in II(ON) position.
jetlife if your mother was the original purchaser, have her call Honda of America and she will get the code for free. But you may need to pull the radio to get the serial number.

Thanks, I have searched all of the paperwork, and I can't find the code anywhere.
I am sure that the battery has been replaced many times in this car.
I'll ask DM tomorrow if she knows the code. Perhaps this model doesn't have a code??
Is disconnecting the battery the only way to reset the Check Engine codes?

There is a 7.5 amp back-up fuse in the fusebox that is under the hood. Going from memory, it sits in the upper right corner of the box and is clearly marked 7.5. Carefully pull that fuse completely out for a seconds. That will clear the ECU code(s) without clearing the anti-theft radio code.

I thought removing that fuse clears the codes in the ECU and maybe the clock. Didn't know it also clears the radio anti-theft code. Thanks.
