Radio Codes...
I have a 2000 Prelude. When i got the car i didnt have the code or anything with it and done some work to it and unhooked the battery soooo yea im without a radio right now. I got the serial # off the radio and it is 98B107730 if anyone could help me get the code for my radio.
Hehe, thanks. You know how the stock radio has the code to activate it? That code is the code i need. Ive only had the car a couple months and i need the code for it. Cant really afford to replace the radio or anything else right now.
Careful with the dealerships. They have access to the codes, but they won't tell you they do. They were going to charge me like $80 to get the code for the radio in my GSR. Same situation as you, I had only had the car a month and disconnected the battery trying to clear a code on the ECU. I called the dealership I bought the car from in Oklahoma City, and they told me they'd have to pull the radio to find out. I didn't like that, so Mom had a good idea of calling the original selling dealership, which was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I told the receptionist my story, and while she had me on hold, she called the dealership in OK, bitched them out and got me the code free of charge.
Yea ive already been to the dealership here and they said they want $80 to pull the radio out and im like forget that. I got the serial # now so hopefully i'll be able to get the code free of charge as well.
If you chnage your avatar back to what it was, I'll help you.
j/k
If you have the serial number, you can go to the dealer but they charge you sometimes.
Did you look through your manual to see if it is in there?? Mine was.....but I have a 92 Prelude

they only want the 80 bux to find the serial number ... if you already have that take it to the parts department and be like i left my headlights runnin and while getting a jump the guy accidently unhooked youre battery ... they only need a serial number ... there is no need to pay money ... just remember to go to the service department ... cuse the other guyz are useless
Ok, on a 5th generation, open your glovebox and on the door there should be a honda sticker with numbers on it, if not look around in there, there may be one.
As far as it not being there, have ur driver's license with you and go by yourself and ask for the code off of it, which will require you to take out the radio before you go.
I assume you already took the radio out, if not pry out the black trim aroudn the a/c heater and radio and the radio is there and it should be easy from there.
DO NOT PAY $80, IF SO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I was not charged and you shouldn't be charged for a ******* number. If so, call the regional honda place and make the pointed dealership pay the cost.
I hope this helps, i needed to vent

call the dealership you got it at, and then if they have a crap reaction to your idea of "Looking up a 4 digit number for free" call the dealership the car was originally bought at. You might want to go in to the dealership you bought it at, say, "Hey, i bought this here, and you guys sold it to me with out all the necessary documentation, and i need that number." It should be in the honda tracking numbers and any dealership can look it up by VIN via the honda data base. For real, it takes a tech guy 2 mins to look it up if you have the number, and if they are charging you 80 bucks for it, it is total BS.
Ok well i got the code now. I called honda today and told them i had the serial # and they told me to bring it in so they could match it up with my VIN#. I done that and they gave me the code but they seemed like they got kinda pissed since they didnt make $80 bux off me.
