d16y8 swap help
Ok so im new here I recently picked an ef with a d16y8 swap in it and i need a little help first issue it over heats it has a new radiator and hoses it mite be thermostat and on the thermostat housing there is a brown sensor plug looks like a female plug and there is nothing plugged into it and the fan is wired to its own switch i didnt know if that was a fan sensor or it not having something plugged into it makes the heat temp gauge go all the way up. second issue there is 2 hoses coming off motor one is coming off the plenum and the looks like its coming off the part that bolts down to the motor rite on the back of the motor on top of that piece that bolts on the motor and it sticks strate up, and the piece on the plenum is next to a slightly bigger hose the piece the is plugged up is the lower left smaller hose i dont really know what it means. any info would help oh and im running and obd1 ecu from what i have been told i havnt quite checked out the entire car yet and i have not bought a book on it yet so just please let me in on any info thanks. i got pics too let me know if i should post them.
You wrote all of that in 3.5 sentences. With majority of all that information being crammed into 2 very long sentences it is really hard to read.
Sentence 1 - that sensor is the thermo switch for the fan. One connection goes to ground and the other to the fan relay. When water gets hot, the switch closes and activates the relay for the fan to turn on. ('mite' is actually spelled 'might')
Sentence 2 - I need pictures. It does sound like your a hose to your PCV is not connected. ('strate' is actually spelled 'straight')
Did you bleed ALL of the air bubbles out of the cooling system?
Does the temperature go down when you put the heater in the car on full blast?
I think changing the thermostat is a great idea. Be SURE to use one from HONDA. Don't use some aftermarket junk. They are totally different quality and you will regret using the cheap aftermarket part. It would be logical that the car may have overheated since the radiator has been changed out. Any time there is an overheating problem the thermostat should be changed out without any question even if it seems ok still. They are actually fairly fragile components and damage easily when overheated.
