Default heat problems after d16y8 swap!

Ok so I searched and cant find anything to help me. My temp gauge has stopped working after my motor swap. My engine seems to warm up (cant check temp) but still doesnt seem to drain the coolant any. I let it warm up then steam started coming from the nipple on the intake so I was afriad to let it run longer without knowing how hot it was running. Is there something im not doing to bleed it? I changed the stat with one out of my the old motor cause I knew it was good but still plan on getting a new one when I can. Could I have my heater core hoses on wrong? Also there is a nipple coming from the top of my intake near the stat housing that I dont know where it hooks up? I read it goes to the black box next to oil filter but that connects to the top of my intake (using my d15b7 intake). Can someone please help me, thanks!

The car is at my parents, I planned on getting a pic asap. The d15b7 was a 94. Its like right below where the breather hose hooks to the valve cover.

temp sensor is on the tstat under the intake manifold. its probably unplugged, dirty, corroded or broken.

The temp. sensor is hooked up but the gauge still doesnt work. Anyone have any ideas? Also, when mpy car is cold it doesnt want to start at all. After I get it started and warm it up it will start up fine. What could be causing that?
