Default B-Series Starter not fitting

Okay so im putting a swap into my CR-X, got down to the starter and the starter that i had (used, not 100% sure what it came from). The raised cylindrical flange that slides into the hole in the transmission fits into the hole in the transmission, but if i put in a bolt, it is about 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch off and i am unable to get the other bolt in. Im about to just drill the b**** out, but im curious what the issue is, and what starter i should get that would fit. Its a B16 manual transmission.

Any b series starter will fit any b series transmission. You most likely do not have a b series starter

Thats what ive been reading, but its literally so close its annoying lol. It may be a d-series starter or a b-series automatic starter. Would those work as long as it fit in the hole and was secured to the trans?
