Daily Driver Upgrade R.I.P. to my EF 1990 Civic Hatch Base
EF 1990 Civic Hatch Base was TOTALED 5-25-14. Driver failed to yield on a left hand turn at an intersection with NO green arrow....I was going west bound and he was going east bound turning left headed north...apparently didn't see me. I went through the intersection and out of no where car turns right in front of me...BAM!!! Radiator smashed fluid was leaking everywhere...hood was bent up in the form of a triangle...no injuries fortunately....on to a new daily driver.
I am now going to look at and almost positively purchase 2002 Acura RSX base model 5-speed!!! What do you think about this daily driver upgrade?

Gonna sign it over to insurance today. They're giving me more than what I paid so I wasn't too concerned about parting it out... had LS seats, middle console, and cluster, that I will be removing for my buddy who wants them.
A word of advice. Be extremely patient with the insurance company, and read up on the laws. If it is a total loss, know the laws on getting a fair estimate. For PA they have to average the selling price of TWO for sale cars in at least the same condition. My first estimate for my CRX SI was comparing against an HF and SI with 80k more miles. I got that thrown out. If they do dealer estimated value, they had to do TWO estimates and they only did one.
I ended up recording my last conversation, and after the agent made too many mistakes on what the law was. I told her I was recording the conversation (She first said she was going to, look up wire tapping laws.) and that she made mistakes X Y and Z due to Chapter Blah Section Blah. Then she asked what I wanted and I told her to compare to 2 CRXs listed for 7 and 8k. I ended up going from $700 to $3500.

I love recording calls here in Texas. Only 1 party to the call needs to know that the call is being recorded. The other party does not need to be notified.

Not 100% true. If your on a call with an individual from another state that is a 2 party state, the 2 party law supersedes your 1 party law.
I would avoid the base model if your going to build it. The Type S will have a lot more going. Interior upgrades, suspension, Engine, shorter gearbox just to name a few.
Sorry to hear about the car though.

Thanks...Yea it sucks..that car grew on me in only a week....Thanks for the advice on the type s as well....I'm really just looking to replace my daily driver as fast as possible with the little money I have lol....type s is dope but for now the base is in my price range...definitely gonna put the 6-speed tranny in when and my 5-speed goes out...most likely do some tasteful mods keep it simple and stock but yea I plan on picking him up today!!!
