1993 Civic EX blower motor
So Ive noticed the blower motor periodically stops in the car and comes back on. Well today I was removing the extra crap stereo wire a PO installed for the rear speakers and noticed the blower motor connector and the dash connector were a bit melted. The motor I think was replaced 2 years ago (I dont remember exactly when other than I had gotten an aftermarket one. So in terms of things, should I just get a replacement section of harness and replace the blower connector as well? or just solder the 2 together? Ive seen this type of melting before on dodge blower resistors, but this is the first time Ive seen it on just a fan motor. My theory is the blower got blocked or something and over heated the connector a few times.
Try to find a replacement harness from a junkyard, that section isn't very long and can be replaced easily if you remove the glove compartment. It was pretty common for them to do this, there's a recall for the Ridgelines for the same issue and they used the same plug.
Well I found a plug at the JY earlier today, but my problem is now the mating plug. Apparently the aftermarket ones have a pigtail with mating connector vs the oem ones with the connector mounted to the chassis.
