I have a 99-00 Si cluster in a 96 civic dx hatch and the tach decides to work every once in a while...The continuity has been checked on the tach wire coming from the dizzy to the cluster and it checks out fine, we tried a different cluster and the tach worked fine...so we know it's the tach...Does anyone know if the a malfunctioning tach can be repaired? i've had no luck tracking down just a SI tach on ebay and they're like $500 from Honda lol..orrr anyone on here maybe have a broken cluster with a working tach they'd want to part with? Either way if you have any info on whether or not the tach can be repaired please let me know.

Often if you just heat up all the solder points with a soldering iron it will fix them.

 

i have a whole 96-00 rpm cluster working for sale if u want, 30 bucks for it itself and prolly 20-25 for shipping. Downside is broken temp gauge, but u are only just using the rpm gauge anyways so u can remove my rpm gauge and swap it with ur SI one. but keep ur SI face plate

and if u already have a rpm cluster (donor) u can just swap the RPM gauge out with ur SI one. but again, keep your SI face plate
