long story short i started this job and had to let it sit for 2 weeks, now i have the transmission on but I have 2 long bolts. 1 i assume is for the starter as it is the proper length but i have no clue what to do with the other bolt.. I have all the bolts in but the starter and bottom block bolt that is next to the oil filter...

I took all of the bolts out one at a time and checked to see if the long bolt would fit but it does not... is there another long bolt i am missing (yes the engine to frame mount bolt is installed).

nope that isn't it. there are 8 bolts total. 6 are installed. one bolt is for the starter and the other one well... idk. I took out every single bell housing bolt and tried sticking the long one in and no luck.

All i can think of is I lost a bolt and the other long bolt belongs somewhere else that i have completely forgotten about.

the bolt is 4" from shank to tip.

 

probably for the tranny mount

 

Would help if you stated what year and engine you have.
Or you could go to Majestics online site and look up the bolt lengths yourself.

 

i figured it out.... It was the dust cover... Doh!
