Does the M2S4 internals fit into M2Y4 case?

I have an M2S4 which I want to swap to an M2Y4 case, along with the (aftermarket) LSD.

Why? I want the M2S4 ratios but the case is not as good. Also I want to put the LSD that is already in the M2S4 and put new carbon synchros.

 

So whats wrong with the trans current casing? Is it broke? They should be the same other then gearing. Just take out the gears swap everything including lsd over and rebuild as normal.

Any usdm open diff trans can take a aftermarket LSD.

 

Yes the case is broken on some points and had been welded/"repaired" on some of the rear braket mounting points.

And for the questins, it should work?

 

Id assume so, Im not going to guarantee because I havent done myself. The LSD can swap for sure. But as for whole gear sets, I dont see why not is what Im saying. But how are you going to do this? Wouldnt be worth taking to a shop, so I hoped you knew what you were doing.

 

Email to synchrotec and they replied that the cases are different but the LSD will work. Not other internals.
