Im trying to get the shift linkage off, and im stuck on the sping loaded pin (or bitch pin as ive heard it called). Ive tried using a punch to tap it out, but im afraid to really hit it hard because i dont want to damage the shaft that goes into the transmission. Any suggestions? The motor, transmission, axles and shift linkage are going into my 89 si hatch, so im considering just cutting it since ill have to shorten the linkage anyway? Any suggestions?

 

Get a 8mm bolt then use that with a 4 lb hammer it'll come out ina a few taps trust me It seems harder when you use a regular size hammer.

 

i was using a mini sledge but i was afraid ill break something lol, thanks ill try that after work tomorrow

 

Lol you won't. It's called a "bitch pin" for a reason. What size pin punch are you using?
