What parts should I stockpile if I want to keep my Civic running for another 25 years
I have a 1990 Civic Si and I would like to keep it running for a long time. Many parts are already unavailable from Honda. There are quite a few 88-91 Civics in junkyards now but in five years that source of parts will also dry up. So my question is what parts should I be looking for in junkyards now for future use? The first few things I thought of were:
• ECU
• Turn signal/Combination Switch
• Drivers window regulator
• Windshield Wiper transmission

Is there a way to test a distributor in a junkyard before I buy it? Is the distributor in a Si different from other Civic distributors from 88-91
In less than 25 years your focus should be on getting a better paying job so you can park that 50 year old car and get a newer chunk of metal to drive.
Then stockpile a couple engines, transmissions, axles, and climate controlled storage for all suspension rubber bushings.

It's the truth, I'm sitting on a few D16A6 engines myself specifically for the "correctness" of the engine/chassis. Now climate controlled storage is out of my reach LOL but luckily it's not too bad in socal.
That might make an interesting thread, to see who's actually stockpiling for the longevity of the car and what they are keeping or trying to source. Completely different mindset than the people fixing up the cars and moving on or even people restoring these cars.
