(D16Y7-D14A4)Fuel Injectors Not Pulsing - Engine WILL start with fuel into air intake
Hello,
Over the last few days I have completed my engine swap.
I put a D14A4 engine, ecu and engine loom, into a 96 EJ6 Coupe (D16Y7)
It will not run without putting fuel directly into the air intake.
There is fuel getting to the fuel rail, so I am assuming its the injectors at fault. I am not that good at wiring but everything seems to be plugged back in where it came from.
The injectors are wired in the correct order and I am not getting a chech engine light.
What to do? Could it be a camshaft position sensor? Although I can't seem to find one something about one being in the dizzy.
I'm getting a spark and fuel to the fuel rail but no further?

Hey Turbomaniac,
Haha I know! I'm only 17 so the d14a4 was for insurance reasons! I'm really interested in putting a nice block with a turbo after NCT but all the costs with a proper ECU and mapping uggh!
When I put fuel into the intake directly it will run off the intake fuel for a small bit and die.
I took the injectors off the rail and checked the OHM's resistance, theyre all 12.4 or 14.2 cant remember but they're all the same and all good!
I need to find out why the injectors aren't pulsing, be the immobiliser or earth or a fuse? or something else?
When i take the fuel rail wth the injectors off too see if theyre pulsing theyre not, no fuel what so ever

NOTE: There is fuel in the injectors like when I pull them off the rail the injectors have fuel in them you know a tiny bit with the little filter on them. Fuel is getting to the injectors.

so it works for a little and than dead. Seems you realy have problem with the injection, assuming that you have great spark... or not?
if the spark is ok i believe it must be bad cam timing or Crank Position or cam position sensor malfunction. Check the wirings of these sensors and also try to test other distributor, just in case...

Which distributor are you using?
not a civic specialist but did the new engine come with crank sensors ? if u had to swap them over you should need the crank timing pulley and balance shaft pulley too
Lol, D-series engines do not have balance shafts... ;-)

I have a few questions i'd greatly appreciate if you can answer them you all seem to know your business
1. I've only managed to locate two grounds the gearbox one and the one near the pulleys, They both have really clean connections, but is they're any more earths?
2. Is they're any fuse for the injectors? Note my spark and fuel pump works and theyre is pressure in the fuel rail
3. What else would stop good injectors pulsing? The immobilsor? But theyres no flashing key on and if I use a different key the immobilsor does kick and and stop the car from working, so I'm guessing its not an immobilsor issue?
4. Do different ignition barrels send key codes to the ecu? As I'm not using the one for the d14a4

yes the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) on the D series is inside the distributor - the sensor on the front of the crankshaft behind the pulley is the Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation Sensor (CKF).
i dont know if there is a fuse or relay for the injectors and i dont think taht there is. google the d14 wirings will help you to find out
if injectors not working it can be ECU, or injector groundings, or bud pulse from the distributor (via ECU).
as for the 4, IMO you definitely must use the d14 barel, thats for sure. mabe thats the problem.
I’m having same problem with 2000 civic b18b swap
spark good
timing TDC
Distributor good
fuel pump primes
fuel gets to injectors and not cumin out
basically went thru everything having same issues u mentioned
